The Prop Forge

This page includes information on active and previous projects we worked on.

Appleseed: Ex Machina

Just a few random pics taken during the build process.

Black Rock Shooter Props

We started out building out a template in Photoshop that was then printed out full size and transfered over to a sheet of Dow Styrofoam.

Dow Styrofoam

Once the template is traced out, we gut out the general form of the blade.

The blade

I’m on to the second version of the neck. I’m going to double up the foam and make it a bit more bone like, but still keeping some elements of the mini blades you see in the above version. I have a set of files that are working really good for sanding down the edges. I’m still working on how I want to actually attach the blade to the neck.

Brandi is doing a lot of crazy prop work for this one as well. She is using paper clay to sculpt out her horns and clawed hands. Paper clay can be found at most craft shots in the clay isle. It is easy to work with and dries into something sandable and paintable.

She also just got in her custom made contacts from These things are great and even better, they are prescription!

Progress on the Scythe. The main blade is about 75% done. It just needs a few more coats of resin.

Brandi is making great progress with the wings. It is hard to tell from the pic, but they came out really good. You should see the horns, we are saving those for a surprise.

Here is an update on the Bone Sythe. I’m just about to the painting stage. Just need to fill in a few gaps here and there.
