Angry Dog Studios from now on…

 | June 30, 2011 11:43 pm

So we’ve officially changed the name over to AngryDogStudios now. Brandi and I felt it better represented what we do. Armor is only one part of our hobbies and even in the costuming realm it represents only one aspect of costuming. Coupled with my love of photography, we felt “Studios” better covered things.

Angry Dog Armor will stick around as a URL, but it will now be pointing to the Studios link. Our emails are going to be going forward as well. We hope to grow the site with more tutorials, updates and photos!

Lots of progress going on this month. Thanks to our web admin, Jason, we have the new ADS site up. There are still some tweaks, the galleries are still broken, but we are getting there.

We’ve returned to working on our previously put on hold secret project for Anime Weekend. If it gets done in time, we may even break it out for DragonCon. In addition we are working on several other costumes at the moment. Brandi is heavy into working on her Queen’s Blade Melona costume. That one is going to prove to be very interesting. I’m working on a couple of lighter, but rather expensive, costumes. My favorite being Marlon Brando’s Johnny from The Wild One.

More updates soon, including progress pics.

 | June 16, 2011 10:58 am

We are doing some site updates. Some thing may be broken for a few days such as images and the photo gallery. Additionally may link to an SSL error for a bit while we move hosting around. Please bare with us.

Dear Walgreens,

It is ok for you to print my photos tagged with for Katrina Plitnick. I appreciate your concern about printing copywrited photos without permission. Good work. I do give Katrina permission to have them printed.

St. Paddy’s and MomoCon Weekend

 | March 13, 2011 9:34 pm

So, so, so tired right now. The St. Paddy’s day parade with the 501st was fun as always. They had a great turnout this year with around 60 costumed characters. We stopped by MomoCon on Saturday. We were amazed by how massive the attendence is getting with that con. Its a free convention, so it makes sense, but wow it grows so much every year. We’ll have pics from the parade soon, but not many from Momo, just too worn out by the time we got there.

Con Nooga 2011

 | February 21, 2011 12:22 am

We just got back from Con Nooga 2011. I’m going to be working on pics and getting them posted in the next day or two.

The con was good and the room parties were amazing this year. Congratulations to the Con-Tourage group for winning this years room party contest. I’d like to give a personal honorable mention to the Holidays are an Excuse to Drink party group as well.

More later as we settle back in. Perhaps a bit of a rant about what went down with the “Face Off” style contest on Sunday. The group that should have won got robbed in what has to be one of the worse “they were too good” judging screw-ups I’ve ever seen. No offense meant to those who won, but when there is an audiable gasp from the audience when the winner is announced, you know something didn’t go the way it should have.

Dead Master Prop Build

 | February 3, 2011 11:26 pm

Work has begun on the Dead Master scythe. This begins as a draft in Photoshop that is then mapped out and printed, transfered over to a piece of Dow Foam and cut out. I’ll have pictures soon.

Facebook is kind of evil and Atlanta Comic Con :P

 | January 30, 2011 1:26 am

Ah Facebook. I (Jimmy) think it might be the end of us all someday. It is so easy to post pics there and forget to update the site. Pics of DragonCon are in the gallery. Anime Weekend will be shortly as well. I posted the AWA pics months ago and forgot to update here.

There are a few pics from Atlanta Comic Con as well. Small con, not as well attended as I hoped. Way to much reliance on autographs to bring people in. Atlanta is jadded to celebs and autograph cons. Dragon Con is enough for a full year for most.
